This is one of those books that everyone has heard of, which is why I bought
it when I first bought my yearlings.
I didn't get as much out of the book
as I hoped to. I think the book just attempts too much, trying to
fit the birth and development of the foal from pre-conception to a finished
five year old into 136 pages, which includes large photos of cute foals and
weanlings and beautiful mares and stallions. Such an
immense subject matter can not be covered in any depth in such a presentation.
However someone who is in the early
stages of horse ownership who is curious about breeding and development
could get an overview of the subject from Foal to Five Years.
